This international workshop will address at a basic level what is known about the fundamental mechanisms by which skeletal muscle mass and function are lost during ageing and will examine the nature of interventions that might prevent these mechanistic changes. It is a 2 day meeting, comprising a series of invited talks and two breakout sessions designed to identify key gaps in current knowledge and potential future research questions.
