Promoting the Collaboration of Age Research

Time:
9:30 AM
Location:
Royal College of Physicians, London

This event was the second of UKARF's biennial conferences highlighting the best of UK age research funding by collaborative working of the UKARF member organisations.

The programme reflected the diversity of UKARF membership and supported the UKARF vison to 'promote high quality research that is effectively targeted and monitored, multi-disciplinary when appropriate and closely engaged with potential research users, and that ultimately has a beneficial impact on the quality of life of people as they age'.

The large audience, drawn from academic, goverment, research council, charity and  industry sectors as well as representatives of older peoples groups, not only enjoyed the many excellent presenations but also had ample opportunity to network and forge new and valuable contacts.

Feedback from delegates was overwhelmingly positive in respect of organisation of the event, the venue and the programme of speakers.  You can see an analysis of feedback here.

Speaker presentations are now available to download:

George Magnus - 'The Age of Ageing'

Andrew Steptoe - 'ELSA'

Professor Blair Smith - 'Engaging with older people to develop; and deliver interventions for the self-management of chronic pain (EPIC)'

Dr Angela McCullagh - 'Getting research into practice with partners: lighting at home for older people'

Jackie Marshall-Cyrus - 'The business of innovating for independent living'
