The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee Inquiry in 2006 indicated the need for sustained, long-term investment in research relevant to ageing and older people which is well coordinated and directed.
In the Government’s reply to the inquiry, great importance was placed on the Funders Forum for Research on Ageing and Older People’s work in meeting the challenges identified for coordinating ageing research.
This has led to a strengthened role for the Forum with an expansion of the membership and a regeneration of the organisation under a new name: The UK Age Research Forum (UKARF).
